The Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV is an incredible TV and it is certainly a marvel of our modern technology.

For a very long time I researched to purchase a TV until driving my wife nuts. I went first to Best Buy but Circuit City was much more helpful than Best Buy to answer some questions.

I have seen this set at Best Buy and the picture is really amazing. Surprisingly you see true colors without any glare on the screen and no blur. compared to Best Buy, Amazon saved me not less than $600 (plus 24 months interest free and free shipping). And even by comparing this Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV to the newest versions, there were some differences the LN46A650 set was certainly the way for us to go because of the many features it offers.

Let me share with you my buying experience with Amazon themselves. They offered me such a great price on Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV that surely can never be found in any retail store or on any other website as I found after my research and as I experienced when I ordered it and also their shipping service was really fast. I ordered this TV on March 4th and it was delivered to my doorstep on the 9th.

This TV offers a standard composite to satisfy and meet all sorts of connection needs. Additional features for the Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV include a unique “Info Link” feature that allows the TV to grab weather forecasting , stock quotes , news updates , and sports scores from the internet when it is connected through the included Ethernet port to a home network. Another incredible feature is the “Wise Link” feature which allows direct play of music and image viewing when you plug in your Thumb Drive.

The Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV also includes a built-in tuner which for my particular location picked up clearly all local broadcasts without even a hitch. This TV also features a fantastic “signal strength” meter that helps much when positioning your antenna.

The calibrations and adjustments that this TV set offers are astonishing. Each input can be separately calibrated perfectly with the standard brightness, sharpness, contrast and color options that can be tweaked to your exact viewing preferences for all of your connected components that you may have.

All in all, the Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV is a high performing top-tier LCD TV and truly one of the best on the market currently in its price range. The features and performance of this set do amaze and please ans sets this television totally apart from other TVs where it matters most.

I highly recommend this Samsung TV as it truly is an incredible TV and it is absolutely a marvel of our modern technology that you must try and enjoy.

LCD TV

Bivan asked:

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. Originally designed for electronic display devices, now this technology is widely used to manufacture high-resolution televisions. Liquid crystal televisions work on Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology. Their screen consists of a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between two transparent layers. A bulb placed behind the screen illuminates the TFT panel. Upon receiving the data, the liquid crystals align themselves in various degrees. The alignment of the crystals blocks unwanted light and only required light gets transmitted. The degree of alignment decides what color and contrast will be filtered through the panel.

When LCD TVs were first introduced, their major competition was the plasma TV. LCD and plasma televisions coexist and compete even today. Each has its own merits and demerits. LCD TVs cannot produce as much color or contrast as plasma TVs, but their overall picture quality remains better than a plasma TV. They can produce better resolution per square inch of their sur face than a plasma TV.

Initially LCD TVs suffered from problems related to viewing angles. They could not be viewed from extreme horizontal angles. But now, LCD TVs are so designed that even at angles as wide as 160 degrees, they can be viewed with clarity.

The brand leaders in the LCD TV market are Sharp, Sony, Philips and LG. Sharp TVs have been consistently the best and they provide the best black to white ratio. Early LCD TVs were designed in a small screen format, but today they are available in screens as wide as 52 inches or even more. However, smaller screens can provide better picture clarity than wide screens.

LCD TVs can also be used as computer monitors. In fact, the technology was originally designed to manufacture laptop monitors. High definition LCD televisions are SVGA adaptable and they can be used to enjoy extreme graphic games on monitors.

The basic advantage of LCD televisions is their flatness. Even a widescreen LCD TV will be no more than a couple of inches thick. This also makes them lightweight. LCD TVs can therefore be fixed to wall mounts with supports. Due to this reason, one finds LCD TVs in hotels, airports, hospitals, discotheques, bars and wherever TVs can be mounted.

LCD TVs are the most expensive television technologies in the market. Their problems are diminishing, as more and more companies are spending millions of dollars on researching better technology. It won’t be long before prices spiral down and they become the best value for television technologies.

LCD Technology

Justin Flex asked:

LCD technology can be seen almost anywhere. From the digital clock that startles you in the morning to the microwave that served up your last plate of food, you have been using LCD technology for quite a while, probably without even knowing it. The digital watch on your wrist, the laptop at your office, even the MP3 player in your gym bag makes use of LCD innovations.

These are only a couple of examples of everyday electronics that incorporate LCD technology. The most well-known use of LCD technology in the present time is the ever popular LCD television.

Liquid Crystal Displays or LCD TVs are those that use flat, thin displays made up of a series of monochrome pixels that are in turn displayed in front of a reflector or other source of light. That is where the image display comes from. Most of the time, the technology used is that of the Thin Film Transistor or TFT that is a specific type of field effect transistor made by layering thin films planned for metal contacts along with dielectric and semiconductor layers. As such, the LCD television is much different than other image producing technologies such as a plasma display or older cathode ray tubes.

Before these TVs where popular, the general consensus was that LCD technology was only suitable when used on televisions of smaller size and that it could not be as good as plasma technology when it came to the big screen sizes. With the advent of seventh generation panels by such giants as Samsung, Sony, Westinghouse Digital, Sharp and LG Philips, those beliefs have proven to be out-dated information.

In October of 2004, LCD pictures where as large as 45 inches and were readily distributed by several companies and the Sharp Corporation took center lead with the introduction of the first 65 inch panel television in history. By 2006, LG Philips had introduced the grandest picture yet with their 100 inch LCD television.

Today’s LCD television sets are universal, in that they include a multi system tuner that displays NTSC, SECAM and PAL standards. They also offer electronic transformers that automatically use 110/250 voltage without a problem, as well as universal grounded adapter plugs. Also, LCD TVs are not going to be limited to the family room and now serve as computer monitors all over the world.

According to respected professionals, manufacturers continue with plans to invest tons of money on the production and development of LCD television technology over the next several years. It is highly un-likely that LCD technology is going anywhere, in fact, if recent trends hold true for LCD TVs, then the greatest is yet to come!

Pablo Rumpi Pumpi asked:

Although it may seem brand new the technology behind flat screen TV has been around for a number of years. This technology was once considered to be unobtainable however due to advancements in manufacturing it is now easier to produce and as a result more affordable to everyone. The level of quality and affordability to which we now have access as consumers is causing us to raise the bar of our expectations for other technology in consumer electronics as well.

Those who favor contemporary decor can find metallic stands with glass shelves. Regardless of what furniture is chosen to house one it should be particularly sturdy. Even though the cost of a flat screen TV is coming down they are still not cheap. .

As they become more widely available specialized furniture and cabinets have also come on the market. There are accessories now to match the many unique needs of the flat screen TV owner. So that not only is this delicate piece of equipment well protected but that it is also fashionable to present and comfortable to watch.

The flat screen TV is a delicate piece of equipment and this needs to be taken into consideration when moving and placing it. Make sure that you do not jostle or bump your television because the last thing you want to do after you purchase it is to pay to have it fixed. Another benefit of placing it on the wall is that it is out of reach of children and animals. Wall mounts are available to allow the television to tilt downward and adjust for proper viewing comfort.

The modern version is fast becoming a staple in your standard home theater system and is often accompanied by additional high-tech components such as surround sound speakers. The ability to build a large screen with high end picture quality and reliability as well as to utilize that same level of proficiency with the componentry is what allows for such an immersive experience. Because of the every increasing proficiency of production as well as the cheapening of raw materials and Improvements on technology the level of consumer satisfaction and access to superior quality products will only get better.

The primary metric by which the longevity of the flat screen TV is measured is by it’s half-life which refers to the point in time when the quality of the picture degenerates to half of it’s original level of quality. Sixty thousand hours is the standard half life for you average set. To ensure maximum enjoyment from your television a warranty can be obtained to take care of minor or major issues.

These pieces of technological prowess owe their stunning color to unique technology that utilizes neon and xenon gases. These gasses are safe and they are captured between two panels of flat glass. They produce over 16 million colors including a perfect black which enhances the cinematic quality of the picture.

Budgeting considerations for when you purchase your flat screen TV should include the cost of the television itself as well as any needed furniture such as cabinets and accessories any warranties and the effect on the homes electric bill. Today’s larger versions use a lot of electricity however this technology is constantly evolving and in the near future the consumer will have access to more energy efficient models that will be less expensive to everyone.

Internet TV

Richard Cunningham asked:

As the name aptly suggests, Internet TV is the delivery of streaming or real-time audio and video television programs over the Web. It is different from video sites that deliver downloadable video content because Internet TV sites stream content in real-time. Which means a person sitting in Mexico can stream an episode of Oprah which a housewife in India can watch live over her Internet TV as and when it is being broadcast.

Different Ways of Watching Internet TV

Internet TV can be viewed in many different ways. One of the most common ways of watching it is on a laptop or a computer. All it requires is a sound card and a high resolution graphics card with a net connection, obviously. Internet TV can also be viewed on your regular TV. This requires a PC to be hooked up with it. A set top box will also suffice if it is able to receive Internet TV broadcasts. High-end cellular phones and mobiles might also display Internet TV shows but at a lower resolution than a regular TV or a PC. This means that the picture quality on a mobile might not be as good as the one on a PC or an ordinary TV.

Almost anyone with high speed Internet access can watch Internet TV. There are several sites on the net that offer a wide variety of content throughout the day for all cross sections of society via Internet TV.

People often wonder why Internet TV has become wildly popular these days. Studies have shown that Internet TV will quickly replace the regular TV as the medium of choice in the next few years. The surprising and the phenomenal popularity of Internet TV is due to a number of reasons described briefly below

To begin, Internet access speeds have burgeoned beyond imagination. This has allowed streaming video and audio on Internet TV to become easily accessible to a large number of viewers. In fact, the inherent database of PC savvy users has multiplied at a rapid pace across the world. Therefore, the number of people who view Internet TV has also correspondingly increased. The costs of net access have also plummeted and bandwidth has become cheaper and more affordable for middle class users across the world

In addition to this, the cost of a PC has fallen over the years in all economies and countries. As always, computers and technology keep becoming more and more affordable with every passing moment. The technology which makes Internet TV feasible for the common man has not only become cheaper, it has also become better and more powerful.

It is therefore not a surprise that Internet TV is fast replacing the offline or the non-Internet TV these days. It is only a matter of time before the fraternity of Internet TV stops broadcasting the content shown on regular TV. The real boom will come when Internet TV starts developing its own customized content for its own set of target audiences across the planet.

Flat Panel Televisions

Posted by | Posted in Home And Family | Posted on 26-12-2009

Johnny Waymire asked:

Flat panel televisions are the newest and hottest technology in televisions, and they offer several advantages over standard tube televisions. One of these advantages is the great increase in picture quality, they also offer sleeker, more modern designs that fit well with any decor. Another great benefit is the fact that they are well designed for wall mounting due to their flat design as well as their light weight.

When you begin to consider the possibility of wall mounting one of the first things that you need to know is what is behind the wall that you plan to cut in to, you don’t want to drill or cut into anything in the process of mounting.

Once you’ve determined that you are safe to mount in your chosen location it is time to look at equipment needs for this job. Most of the flat panels that you can purchase do not come with the mounting hardware necessary for wall mounting, so you will need to purchase it separate from the television. First of all you must find and purchase an appropriate wall-mounting bracket, you should be able to check your owner’s manual to determine a suitable bracket for your television. The majority of flat panel TV models are compatible with several brackets that follow the standards set by VESA. The models will have the word VESA, which will then be followed by a number that indicates a millimeter distance between mounting holes on the brackets or the TV. An example of this would be a VESA 75, which means that the four holes on the bracket are separated by 75 mm, there are also some brackets that are rectangular in shape and will have a VESA number like 100/200, which indicates that on two sides of the rectangle the holes are separated by 100mm and on the other two by 200mm.

Next on the list of importance is to ensure that the bracket you select is compatible with the screen size of your flat panel, as well as to double check that the weight capability can hold the weight of your TV. It is also important to consider what you would like the bracket to do, such as swiveling to avoid glare or for a better view from a different seat in the room. You may need to nudge the television slightly after mounting in order to assure that your view is exactly as you would like.

The ideal mounting is one where the TV screen is at about eye level to seating, you should also be aware of glare from light reflection, which will reduce the quality of your view, so be aware of these things during the mounting process.

Another aspect of the mounting is the placement of power and A/V cabling. There are ways of doing this that are quick, and ways that are more labor intensive. You can run your wires inside of the wall if you would like, but this will be the most labor intensive. Other options for wiring that avoid the in-wall labor include the use of paintable cable raceways that you can attach to the wall, or you could consider running cables underneath baseboard or molding if you have more distance to cover. Any of these options will eliminate the ugliness associated with the tangled mess of cables and cords that are often visible between your television and your entertainment cabinet.

Once you’ve determined the route and method of cabling you will need to figure how much of the wiring you will need. As in any situation it is better to have too much than too little, following is an example:

Running wire from receiver to wall -3 ft

Running horizontally behind the wall -7 ft

Running vertically to TV inside the wall -5 ft

Wire for wall to TV distance (with slight excess) -2 ft

Total of all measures -18 ft, adding a 15% error factor gives you approximately 21ft necessary to do the job properly.

Once you’ve reached this point you are basically finished, all you have to do from here is fit the two pieces of the mount, the one on the wall and the one on the back of the TV, together and your flat panel TV is successfully wall-mounted.

Mobile Tv Streaming – How To Watch Streaming Tv On Your Mobile Phone

Mobile TV Streaming – How to Watch Streaming TV on Your Mobile Phone

I was waiting for my train the other morning when I got a text on my mobile. It was my girlfriend saying she was watching the news and there was another shark attack in my area. That is what made me think wouldn’t it be great if I could get mobile streaming TV where I could watch the news on my way to work or watch TV when I wanted to.

I decided to have a look on the net and see if there was any such software that would allow me to have mobile TV streaming on my phone. I kept coming across the same problems that the quality of the channels wouldn’t be up to any standard to watch on a mobile phone. I Couldn’t understand this as the processing powers of mobile phones are quite fast these days and the connection to the internet with 3g is getting better everyday.

I looked for a few weeks on the net without any results. However I did find a lot of information on mobile phone streaming that I am going to share with you.

1. If you have a mobile phone with internet access it can be possible to stream tv channels on the phone if you are able to access the likes of youtube.

2. There are other alternatives that you can look into. There are many channels available on the internet which are free and legal. A lot of them are broadcast in foreign countries but there are english speaking channels that you will be able to get.

3. A few channels offer mobile tv streaming now as long as you have internet access the like of CNN, the CW, Sports TV. These channels have made streams specifically for mobile phones which take up less bandwidth to make the quality better on mobiles.

Known as “America’s HDTV Company”, Vizio has become the top selling brand of flat panels in the US within the past couple of years. Its focus on customer electronic solutions and practical innovation has been the core for success. Customers’ expectations are the guidelines to tailor Vizio products, specifically Vizio’s wall mounts.

If you have problems with floor space, mounting your TV on the wall could be the solution for you. It takes minimal space off your home as opposed to bulky entertainment center units. It is also one of the simpler solutions as assembly is easy with the accompanying manual.

When choosing a wall mount, the one thing you should keep in mind is its safety and reliability; you would not want your plasma or LCD to crash. You would want one that is sturdy enough to support the weight of your TV.

With Vizio wall mount, you would not have to worry about any accidents as it comes with a lifetime warranty. It also comes with a $10,000 component insurance that will come in handy should your TV falls down.

Even though most homes only require static wall mounts, Vizio offers an extensive range for those who require more. If you want multiple viewing position set-ups, a simple swing of a “swing out wall mount” is all it takes to rotate at a 180 degrees angle.

In situation where you are unable to mount your TV on a wall, you can opt for an “under cabinet mount” for solid surfaces or cabinets. An alternative for the TV stand, the Vizio wall mount is a solution that will enable you to save space in style.
